#davesdailychallenge (64): We Are Wild Things. “I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.” -D.H. Lawrence. Too often in our modern lives, being surrounded with the luxuries of advanced technology and the challenges atop Maslow’s pyramid, we forget that we are inherently wild creatures. Tapping into that by routinely checking back in to the wild is an important act. I find that if I go too long without a reminder I become somehow lesser. That “check-in” could be the daily ritual of trail running or your appointment with the iron. It could be a hike in the woods. These acts have always helped me with any internal struggle from tough decisions to self pity. Wild things don’t feel sorry themselves.
