#davesdailychallenge (74): Why I Hate The Term “Millennials”. It’s just lazy. Many place a negative label on an entire generation of young people instead of realizing that it’s just another marketing term. It means nothing outside of what importance we place on it. In my mind, and admittedly my attitude has matured over time, there is no such thing as the “millennial” generation. There is John, Amy, Emma, William, and Kristin. There are individuals that are each worthy of being measured on their own merits and their own actions. Leaders are being lazy when they paint with a broad brush and don’t take the time to be engaged with their people in order to truly learn about what makes them tick. I have been lucky enough to lead teams largely comprised of people from the “millennial” generation, anywhere from 4 to 200 members, and I can personally attest that they can be some of the most creative and hard working people you’ve ever met. Don’t be lazy. Be engaged and take the time to create a real bond with your people. They just might surprise you. Good luck my friends!
