#davesdailychallenge (75): More Than One Thing Can Be True. Have you noticed how so many people are obsessed nowadays with mutually exclusive thinking? Too many people inherently approach complicated situations with the mentality that either one side or another is true. In reality, situations are filled with a million shades of gray. Rarely is there actually only two sides to an issue. There is such a thing as American citizens who aren’t either Republican or Democrat. There is such a thing as a company that some would consider greedy and immoral that also donates millions upon millions of dollars to worthy charitable causes. Don’t fall prey to the thinking that complex situations are either one way or another. What if certain members of Congress and the NSA have misused or abused the constitutional rights of citizens yet at the same time some of these practices have stopped terrorist attacks on our soil? What if one of the reasons why Donald Trump is leading in the polls, yet reviled by so many, is because of the actions of generations of American politicians and their failures to represent the American people? A ground swell movement can happen for many different reasons. The big takeaway here is that we do ourselves a great disservice by inherently thinking that only one side of an issue has any objective truth associated with it. We’re capable of higher level thinking so let’s act like it. Good luck my friends!
