For The Love of the Team – Daily Growth

#davesdailychallenge (92): For The Love of the Team. I am on a life long mission to change the way people work. One tenet of this pursuit is my obsession with, and authentic joy of, people. The future will be filled with human-based organizations that are exceptionally profitable and a joy to be a part of. It is inherent to the job of any leader, then, to create a culture within their team where members actually give a damn about each other and the work they create together. If the team doesn’t care about each other or the larger organization, and this applies to the startup, the Fortune 500 business, etc…, don’t expect your customers to care about your product, whatever that might be. No team is perfect but I have been a part of such groups that couldn’t care less about each other and I have been fortunate enough to be a part of teams whose members generally care about each other. This isn’t some “woo-woo” new-age nonsense. It is as timeless as it gets yet unfortunately not as prevalent as we’d think in modern teams. Why do you think that is? I can tell you…it is so much easier to focus on the myopic and measurable pursuit of resources than to do the hard work of creating the human-based organization. The good news, however, is that when people are at their best and surrounded by people they trust, they will perform at the highest possible level. From that comes outstanding profits, brand loyalty, and raving fan customers. Good luck my friends.
