#davesdailychallenge (98): The Obstacle Is The Way. This book, written by Ryan Holiday, is one of the better books I’ve read about stoicism not from a long dead Roman philosopher/investor/Emperor. If you enjoyed “Meditations” by Emperor Marcus Aurelius (see previous sentence and one of the original book recommendations in this series), then you will enjoy this and even better, it’s much more readable. One of the best summations of stoicism that I’ve ever read is that it is a “human operating system” designed to get the best out of people over the long term. I think this book helps to illustrate certain concepts that all can apply in their lives but what I found that I really enjoyed about this book, as opposed to many others that I’ve read, is that it brings forth both introductory and advanced topics in a way that invites the reader in and then challenges them to think critically. I highly recommend it!
