#davesdailychallenge (107): Leadership and Belief.
Dear Future American President, for the purposes of this letter I don’t care if your last name is Trump or Clinton. I am writing you this letter to ask you for one simple thing. There was a time this country dreamed of great feats. We dreamed of stepping foot on other planets. We dreamed of creating beautiful works of art, science, and technology. These pursuits were part of the core American ethos. While it has certainly not disappeared, it seems to me like it has fundamentally changed for many. I ask that you please make us believe again. Seek not to sow discord among those you label as political enemies. I know this will be hard but please try. Make the American people believe in their political leaders again because, for the most part, I assure you we don’t. Respect others in their viewpoints and demand they respect ours. Represent us to the world with strength, maturity, and compassion. Our country has been responsible for extraordinary things and we need you to be proud of her. Make us believe in the imagination of what’s possible again. So many things are deemed impossible right up to the point when they aren’t any more. A leader must awaken this sense of belief in those that look up to them. In the end, America is more than just a country, it’s a grand experiment. We are the scion of thousands of years of experimentation in human freedom and self worth. Our collective story is a great one and we believed it intensely once. As our story evolves into the new age, make us believe it again. Do this and the experiment will continue.
