The LinkedIn Followup

#davesdailychallenge (141): Following Up on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is kind of a funny beast. Similar to other social networks it’s value comes in how you use it. I won’t write a novel here in the best ways to extract that value but one tactical thing you must do is actually connect with the people that you need to. So, with that in mind, always remember that when you are requesting a connection on LinkedIn from that influencer you met at the conference or the leader that you want to learn from you absolutely have to remind this person why they should care. I meet a lot of people and I receive connection requests from people with the generic intro line that the system fills in for you. If I don’t remember your face and our conversation, and this isn’t personal at all, I’m way less likely to click yes. Just take a second and remind the person who you are and why they should care. Connection is way easier with this one tactical step.
