#davesdailychallenge (151): Lists.
Bad Things About Lists:
1. They encourage shallow thinking. Rarely does a top ten list go into the necessary depth to truly convey the total picture of a given topic. They reinforce the notion that sound bites are more important than the context of the real world.
2. They make us lazy for other forms of reading. It has become increasingly more difficult to gain the attention of someone with long form material.
3. They allow the perception of multi-tasking, which only results in mediocre end states for two things instead of excellence for one thing.
4. They encourage the regurgitation of great thought leadership from real experts by those seeking to appear as one.
5. Too often, lists are just clickbait designed to get you to go to a website that is going to sell you something.
Good Things About Lists:
1. They allow the quick and efficient intake of information when long form material isn’t necessary.
2. Sometimes they’re just plain fun!
3. Let’s be honest, we all secretly love lists.
4. They support the most popular forms of media consumption today such as pictures, snaps, pins, tweets, etc…
5. They are a really good way to sell things. It is proven that people click on links with lists. Those links can sell any amount of adspace desired.
