#davesdailychallenge (152): Pick Up The Phone. I’ll keep this short and tactical. Leadership by email isn’t a thing. It doesn’t work. Assuming that everything you envision will reach fruition simply because you sent an email is a tremendous mistake. As we all know, we get a lot of email nowadays. How much of it do you read with the level of granularity that is needed? Probably very little. I know some people who rarely if ever read any email outside of what is sent to them from their direct supervisors. When in doubt pick up the phone or visit someone in person. We are social creatures after all and if you want something done, email isn’t going to cut it. I’m guilty of it too. It’s easier after all but far less effective.

It’s almost as if people doen’t really know how to read any more. A sound bite with words with less than three syllables seems all they can absorb before their brain flies off to another direction. Give the average person a set of instructions to follow, let alone any thing technical, and they simply short circuit.
